Suitable for all ages primary school children to older adults with appropriate adjustments according to individual client group.
EFT emotional Freedom Technique or better known as tapping is a mind-body therapy that draws on the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practice of acupuncture, and it is used today as a self-help approach in modern psychology. It involves tapping key acupressure points (acupoints) on the hands, face, and body with your fingertips while focusing on uncomfortable feelings or concerns, and using positive affirmations to neutralize those feelings. You will be guided gently through the process by me and you will develop skills to practice EFT independently in a relatively short period of time.
What is so useful about EFT is that it can be used as a standalone intervention or incorporated within my existing Art Therapy practice if or when appropriate. The tapping activates the parasympathetic nervous system helping the individual regulate whilst exploring emotions and issues or presenting challenges they are currently living with. Often The presenting are often connected with experiences or events in the individual's past. Once explored and links are made whilst tapping the emotion and memory are processed in a different way as the tapping supports the individual to remain regulated and the amagdala responsible for the fight/flight response to be less active.
